MATTOON (JG-TC) -- A local woman was arrested early Tuesday evening for allegedly threatening police officers.

A Mattoon Police Department press release reported that Amy D. Valentino, 50, of Mattoon was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and threatening a public official at 4:34 p.m. in the 1200 block of Lafayette Avenue.

The charges allege that Valentino caused a breach of the peace by way of being outside yelling profanities at another female. The charges also allege that when police responded to investigate the matter, Valentino directed threats of bodily harm to them. Valentino was taken to the Coles County jail.

In other matters, Anthony A. Vaultonburg, 29, of Mattoon was arrested on a charge of domestic battery at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of South 15th Street. The charge alleges that Vaultonburg struck a female during a domestic dispute. Vaultonburg was taken to the jail.
