CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- Multiple small fires sprouted up at 11:12 p.m. Wednesday in a vacant house at 514 N Sixth St.

Neighbors outside at the time noticed a glow coming from inside the house, said Charleston fire Chief Steve Bennett. They then went in and put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.

The damage to the home was minimal. The fire only made some burn marks across the home before it was extinguished, Bennett said.

The fire had multiple origin points across the home and personnel with the Charleston fire and police departments are investigating the incident. Bennett said arson cannot be ruled out at this point.
