MATTOON (JG-TC) -- Mattoon High School student wrote graffiti on the walls of one of the high school restrooms Tuesday morning, according to a Mattoon school district Facebook post.

While the specific message of the graffiti was not mentioned, the post read that the statement was "unfounded."

High school administrators and the high school resource officer, with assistance from Mattoon police, investigated the incident.

A student who allegedly wrote the graffiti was apprehended and the incident was "addressed," according to the post.

The post read that the graffiti was an "inappropriate prank."

The name of the student allegedly involved in the incident was not mentioned. It is also unknown at this point if the graffiti has been removed yet.

School administrators and Mattoon police administrators could not be reached for comment as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
