CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- A Herrin man was picked up as a result of a traffic stop at approximately 2:23 a.m. Tuesday, according to Charleston police. 

Joseph J. Vingara, 35, arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia after the stop.

Charleston police report that officers initiated a traffic stop on a silver passenger vehicle that led to the arrest. 

During the traffic stop a search of the vehicle yielded evidence of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine possession, according to Charleston police.

Vingara was placed in the Coles County Sheriff's jail at the time. He is not currently still confined there, according to Coles County Sheriff's Office records.
