MATTOON (JG-TC) -- Two men were arrested for possession of methamphetamine and other offenses during two separate incidents over the weekend.

A Mattoon police news release said Forrest J. Donaldson, 26, of Charleston was arrested on Sunday after allegedly trying to use fake currency to buy food at the McDonald's restaurant at 103 Dettro Drive.

The release said methamphetamine was also found in Donaldson's possession.

It also said Laurence J. Thompson, 32, of Mattoon was arrested on Saturday in the 1300 block of Richmond Avenue.

It said Thompson was a passenger in a vehicle stopped in that area and methamphetamine was found in his possession. He also struggled with officers during his booking process, according to the release.
