CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- A traffic stop near Cooks Mills led to a woman's arrest on drug offenses as well as traffic violations.
Amber Jean Groves, 25, for whom records list an address in Gays, was arrested after the traffic stop at the southwest edge of the unincorporated town on Sept. 7, according to a news release from the Coles County Sheriff's Office.
The release said a sheriff's deputy stopped Groves for speeding and not signaling properly.
It said Groves gave the deputy a false name and was found with methamphetamine and to be driving with a suspended license.
Court records show charges of methamphetamine possession, driving under the influence of drugs and traffic offenses against Groves and she's scheduled for a court appearance next week.
