MATTOON — An open house is scheduled Thursday at the new Veterans Administration outpatient clinic at 501 Lakeland Blvd.
The event is 1-3 p.m. at the VA Illiana Health Care System clinic, according to a VA press release. It is open to the public and in particular to veterans and their families so they will have an opportunity to see the new outpatient clinic. A ribbon cutting will take place at 2 p.m.
The Illiana system provides care to veterans in Central Illinois and West Central Indiana. The main medical center is located in Danville, along with outpatient clinics in Peoria, Springfield and Decatur, plus West Lafayette, Ind. The clinic in Mattoon is the fifth for the system.
The Mattoon outpatient clinic provides primary care/preventive medicine, mental health, women’s health services, nutrition services and an on-site lab.
“We are so happy to be in Mattoon and look forward to serving the veterans in Coles County as well as other surrounding counties,” said Michael E. Hamilton, director of the Illiana system, said in the media release.
