After months of discussions, Casper has a director for the Wyoming Eclipse Festival.

The Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Wednesday that Anna Wilcox will take the reigns of the festival starting June 6. She'll have more than a year in the role before a total solar eclipse comes to the Oil City on Aug. 21, 2017.

The press release announcing her hire noted that Wilcox has more than 16 years of event planning experience. Wilcox will help coordinate the festivities leading up to the rare celestial event.

Wilcox was selected by members of the the Downtown Development Authority, the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Casper Area Economic Development Alliance and the city of Casper, according to the press release.

The city came close in December to appointing a private firm to manage the festival, but later decided to back away from that option.
