Fifty years ago, I was watching a TV show about a Protestant minister who learned hypnotism and would go through his congregation asking for volunteers willing to be hypnotized. On this particular Sunday he asked a well-dressed and handsome young man if he would agree, and the young man agreed.
But what appeared on the TV and video was an evil spirit inside the young man and his face turned sly.
In a state of shock, the minister asked, “Why? Why, do you hate Jesus?”
The man’s voice became oily as the evil spirit replied, “We do not hate Jesus. We are merely testing him.”
When I was in England for several months back in 1971, I would pick blackberries that birds had seeded in the hedges. Nice and sweet, I was told not to pick the blackberries after Halloween as Satan spits on them. Nonsense, I told myself. So the day after Halloween, I picked a blackberry and spit it out. Tasted like paper.
I have no interest in astrology but note that Taurus (associated with the Persian Empire) and Aries (The Ram), associated with Greece, was how Daniel’s prophecy of the Ram smashing the head of the bull was Daniel’s interpretation of the destruction of Persia.
I was working on the sugarcane plantation, 1958-60, it was on the ruins of Suza, and 10 miles away close to the border of Iraq, was a small mosque where the tomb of Daniel was protected and venerated by Muslims.
This is the age of Pices that is associated with Jesus and the international calendar used all over the world is based on his birth. One group says his birth was Dec. 25 and others place it every year in January. But the time of the Passover and Easter is based on the Lunar Calendar as are Muslim and Judaic Calendars. But there is also a Chinese, Indian, Thai, ancient Egyptian and Babylonian Calendars.
The Coptic Christians of Egypt are different than the Catholic (Rome) and Orthodox Church (Constantinople, which is now Russia), a mystical Christian Church had their ideas about when Jesus was born and we shifted to that calendar after George Washington was president, so Washington’s birthday has now been changed.
As world commerce, banking, settling accounts, and finance use the Christian calendar in setting up budgets, the Christian world predominates. Americans and most Europeans celebrate Christmas, even China which puts on fantastic decorations even though Communist China frowns on all religion. Chinese New Year is where one billion Chinese return home and the government has the buses, trains, airplanes, and boats to take them home.
So ideas, ideals, and Christian beliefs are known everywhere but laws in Christian countries are based on Roman law. There is no Christian law as such. The teachings of Jesus do not hinder legislators in state capitols or Washington. While the Constitution was based on Christian morality, Playboy and Penthouse gurus dress up beautiful young women (not matronly or elderly) in scantly pieces of mythical Santa’s outfit, all is made merry every year to celebrate the Prince of Peace except in Muslim countries.
The Maya calendar of Central America ended Dec. 21, 1200, with the end of their year 13,000. The world did not end. Every 5,124 years completes one of their time cycles.
Eliminating biological weapons and putting nuclear weapons under international inspection is not shared by Washington, I send Peace and Goodwill for all mankind this coming Christmas despite politics.
