Given an entry in the Lincoln Diary it touched my heart as we look at how we as American citizens are divided. We need to find a way to regain our allegiance to our NATION and the FLAG that has been our standard as a nation blessed by Almighty God Himself through His Son Jesus Christ.
What's the best way to inspire confidence? How do you get others to follow you? In order to lead the Union to victory during the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln had to inspire the confidence of the people. If they wouldn't follow his lead, he couldn't show the way. So he traveled through the Union asking for support. Often when he'd meet the crowds of citizens, he'd point to the American flag, sometimes holding it in his hands. “Standing as I do, with my hand upon this staff, and under the folds of the American flag, I ask you to stand by me as long as I stand by it," he'd implore. Crowds would cheer and applaud and leave the meeting inspired. What did Lincoln do to inspire confidence? He gave the people a cause -- freedom, justice, and liberty. If you want to inspire those around you, do the same -- give them a cause.
This applies to our nation, our families, our churches and beyond so let us each do our best to "Give them a cause!"
