After a busy holiday season and start to the new year, I want to let others know that honesty and integrity are still a wonderful part of this community!
On a recent, late-night Christmas shopping trip to the local superstore, I unknowingly lost my purse as I was exiting the store. Upon arriving at my car, I frantically began the search, to no avail. As I was looking around on the ground beside my car, a young man in an older model pickup truck stopped and asked me if I had lost a purse. I said yes, and he described it perfectly. I was instantly relieved as he told me he had taken it to the customer service desk. I thanked him, blessed him and ran inside to retrieve it. When they gave it back to me, I was astonished to find that all the credit cards and cash (right down to the penny) were still inside! Instantly, my faith in humanity was restored, and my thoughts of gifts were switched out for thoughts of gratitude.
I, regretfully, did not get the young man's name. I desperately hope he, or someone that knows of his kind deed will let him know how thankful I am. I am so grateful there are still people who have kind hearts and do the right thing! I speak with students about character education, and will use his goodness as an example to all the young people I talk with.
