I don’t know about you, but I found something inspiring in the Olympics that went beyond the athletes striving for gold. I noticed, that although there was competition between them, it was for the most part peaceful. Where in this world can so many from such a variety of backgrounds, including race, religion, nationalities, economic backgrounds, etc., come together, compete, yet live peacefully with each other. It was inspiring!
These people weren’t diplomats, just people who wanted to come together and see how they compared with others. Yes, there were winners and “losers” and probably some ego trips, but in the end, it seemed most had compassion for one another, were happy they were able to share the experience with one another, win or lose.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the world could be like that on a regular basis, each of us caring about one another, helping each other through our ups and downs. What a concept!
One quote from a fairly famous book reminds me of something I wish we could all do, “Love one another.” Could you imagine if we truly did?
