Casey-Westfield remains perfect

CASEY-- The number 2 ranked school in IHSA Class 1A football won its 19th straight regular season victory Friday as Casey-Westfield shut out Robinson 34-0 in a non-conference contest.

Ethan Lucas set the tone of the game, returning the opening kick-off 80 yards for a touchdown.

Quarterback Nicco Stepina ran for one touchdown and threw a 57-yard pass to Zack Murphy for another.

Murphy and Trey Thompson led the Warriors with seven tackles each.

Casey-Westfield improves to 8-0 and faces Marshall next week.

Tri-County falls

VILLA GROVE -- Tri-County failed in an attempt to keep its play-off hopes alive Friday night as Villa Grove defeated the Titans 28-14 in Little Okaw Conference action.

Tri-County's Drake Kirchner ran 12 times for 79 yards and scored the team's two touchdowns.

Preston Skinner carried 13 times for 69 yards.

Defensively, the Titan's Johnny Craig had 17 tackles and Zach Gobert added 16 more.

Tri-County falls to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the LOVC. The Titans host Palestine-Hutsonville next Friday in a non-conference game.

Cumberland falls to Flora

FLORA -- Cumberland lost a non-conference game to Flora, falling to the Wolves 27-8 on Friday.

Holden Elwood led the Pirate' offense with four-of-eight passes completed for 46 yards and 83 yards rushing on 27 carries. Houston Napier had 41 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries. Mike Wolke had 7.5 tackles and Cody Judson had 5.5.

Cumberland, 2-7, is to play host to Olney in a non-conference game on Friday.

Martinsville loses

MARTINSVILLE --Martinsville lost to Cerro Gordo/Bement/Deland-Weldon 57-0 in a Little Okaw Valley Conference game on Friday.

It was the 23rd straight regular season win for Cerro Gordo, the No. 8 ranked team in Class 2A.

Payne Washburn had 11 yards on four carries and 12 yards on one catch for Martinsville. Kyle Mulkins had one completed pass for 12 yards.

Martinsville, 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the LOVC, welcomes the Indianapolis Crimson Knights for a non-conference game Friday.

DECATUR -- Sullivan-Okaw Valley lost an Okaw Valley Conference game to Decatur St. Teresa 42-7 Friday.

Sullivan's Dakota Clayton scored the team's only touchdown on an 18-yard fumble recovery. Devin Mosier kicked the extra point.

Sullivan-Okaw Valley falls to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in the Okaw Valley black division. The Redskins host Clinton for the final conference game of the season.

SHELBYVILLE -- Shelbyville failed to keep its playoff hopes alive as the Rams lost an Okaw Valley Conference Black Division game to Monticello 38-6 on Friday.

Jared Finley scored the only Shelbyville goal on a 70-yard punt return in the fourth quarter.

Shelbyville, 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference, plays at Tolono Unity Friday.
