MATTOON — Rain caused the postponement of the Apollo Conference boys' and girls' track and field meet, which was scheduled for Thursday at Mattoon High School.

The meet is rescheduled for Monday at Mattoon with field events at 3 p.m. and track events at 5 p.m.

The Charleston girls' team and the Mattoon boys' team are looking to defend their Apollo track and field titles. Charleston's girls are looking for their second consecutive Apollo title, and Mattoon's boys are aiming for a third consecutive Apollo track crown.

Charleston's girls team has won 32 of the 41 Apollo girls' track and field meets, including 31 consecutive titles from 1977 to 2007.

Competing at the meet in addition to Charleston and Mattoon are Effingham, Mount Zion, Salem, and Taylorville.

Other schedule changes

Thursday's Lake Land baseball game at Frontier Community College was postponed to Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The following events were canceled Thursday due to the weather: Casey-Westfield at Charleston baseball; Mahomet-Seymour at Charleston girls' soccer; Charleston at Salem boys' tennis; Urbana at Charleston varsity and junior varsity softball; and Champaign Central at Mattoon boys' tennis.

MC22 to televise Mattoon soccer match

MATTOON — Mediacom channel MC22 will show Mattoon's high school soccer match between Mattoon and Mahomet-Seymour. The first broadcast will be on Wednesday at 7 p.m., then Thursday at 11:30 p.m. and then Friday, May 12, at 8:30 p.m. The match will air again on Saturday, May 13, at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m.
