Neoga successful at the free throw line

NEOGA— Neoga boys’ basketball team shot seventy-seven percent at the free throw line when they defeated Arcola 45-38 on Friday.

Neoga’s Reese Johnson had 14 total points and Caleb Hill had 11 points.

Arcola’s Hugo Garza had 11 total points and Myles Roberts had 10 total points.

Neoga is now 4-2 for the season and will host Shelbyville on Tuesday.

Arcola is 2-4 for the season and will host Tuscola on Tuesday.

A-L-A-H defeats Tuscola

TUSCOLA (JG-TC) — A-L-A-H boys’ basketball team had a close win of 50-47 against Tuscola.

A-L-A-H is now 2-3 overall for the season.

A-L-A-H will host Cumberland on Friday.

Sullivan falls to Okaw Valley

SULLIVAN— Sullivan boys’ basketball team hosted Okaw Valley for a non-conference loss of 48-21.

Sullivan is now 1-3. Okaw Valley is now 1-6.

Sullivan will continue its season at an away game against Neoga on Friday.

Okaw Valley will continue its season at Tri-County for a non-division game on Friday.

WSS downs Arcola

ARCOLA—Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Arcola 55-45 Tuesday in a non-conference game.

The Purple Riders jumped out to a 16-6 lead in the first quarter, but the Hatchets out-scored Arcola 20-12 in the second period to take a 28-26 lead at the half and went on for the win.

Three Hatchets scored in double digits: Chase Thies led the team with 18 points, Christian Kessler scored 14 and Isaac Kramer added 10.

Myles Roberts got 10 points for the Purple Riders.

Arcola falls to 2-1 and hosts Tolono Unity for another non-conference contest Friday.

WSS is now 5-1 and hosts Shelbyville for Windsor’s homecoming game, also non-conference, Friday.

AOC falls to LaSalette

The Arthur-Okaw Christian boys’ basketball team lost to LaSalette 65-49. It was the first loss of the season for AOC.

LaSalette took a 17-14 lead in the first quarter and AOC played to a 14-14 tie in the second quarter. But LaSalette scored 19 points in the third quarter to pull away.

AOC lost despite hitting 10 threes and LaSalette didn’t hit a single shot from behind the arc. AOC had 15 assists on the 18 made field goals.

AOC plays at Heritage Christian on Friday.


Romack earns 100th win

FARINA -- Neoga's 52-18 National Trail Conference win over South Central Monday was Neoga coach Kim Romack's 100th win. Romack is currently 100-55 (.645) and is in her sixth season. 

Tri-County defeats A-L-A-H

OAKLAND— Tri-County girls’ basketball team hosted A-L-A-H and won 64-39 on Tuesday.

For Tri-County, Harley Barry four assists, Maiya Eskew had five steals, and Grace Burnside had seven rebounds.

Tri-County is now 8-1 for the season.

Tri-County plays at Armstrong on Saturday.

Balanced scoring helps Sullivan top A-L-A-H

SULLIVAN -- After three quarters of the non-conference girls' basketball game Sullivan led Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 45-37. The Knights outscored the Lady Redskins by five in the fourth as Sullivan held on for a 60-57 win.

Avery Still led a balanced lady Redskin attack with 16 points, while Esther Miller had 15. Lizzie Green and Emily White were also in double digits with 11 points each. Laine Cameron was the top rebounder with eight, while Green had four steals and four assists.

A-L-A-H was led in scoring by Hannah Wallen with 16 points, while Marissa Herschberger added 14. Wallen led in rebounds and assist with four and six respectively.

Sullivan, 3-3, is to play host to Warrensburg-Latham Thursday in a Central Illinois Confernce game, while the Knights, 3-3, are to travel to Oakland to play Tri-County Tuesday.

Arcola loses to Tuscola

ARCOLA -- Tuscola jumped out to a 19-3 lead after the opening quarter and Arcola could not catch up in a 51-16 loss.

KayLee Hohlbauch led the Lady Riders with 11 points in the non-conference loss.

Arcola, 1-5, is to play host to Urbana Unveristy High Thursday in a non-conference game.

Schlechte's 27 points not enough

STRASBURG -- WSS's Megan Schlechte scored a season-high 27 points in Monday's National Trail Conference girls' basketball game, but it was not enough as Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City won 58-43.

WSS was outscored 19-6 in the third quarter after being tied at 24 after one half.

The Hatchets, 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the NTC, are to travel to Cerro Gordo to face Cerro Gordo/Bement in a non-conference game Thursday.
