BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (OVC) – Eastern Illinois junior wing Jajuan Starks has been named the Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball Newcomer of the Week after his performances last week in road games at Marquette and Bradley.

Starks scored a career high 27 points to open the week as he helped Eastern Illinois nearly pull off the upset at Big East member Marquette.  The Panthers would lose in overtime, 86-83. Starks was 9-of-13 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the foul line in the game. He added a team high eight rebounds.  On Friday at Bradley he was held to single digits for the first time this season.  For the week Starks averaged 15.5 points per game shooting 47.5 percent from the floor and 91 percent from the foul line.  He averaged 6.5 rebounds with three assists, one block and two steals.

For the season Starks leads the Panthers in scoring at 15 points per game and rebounding at 6. 1 per game. He is shooting 53.4 percent from the floor for the season.
