MATTOON — The Lake Land women’s and men’s basketball teams host a key doubleheader against Southwestern Illinois College on Saturday. The women’s game starts at 3 p.m. at Laker Fieldhouse and the men’s game follows at 5 p.m.

The Lake Land women come into the game with a 6-4 record and are 1-2 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. The Lady Lakers are coming off a Region 24 win over Lincoln Land on Wednesday, which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Avery Jackson is averaging 18.4 points and 5.0 assists per game. Koty Crowder follows with 15.3 points and 2.1 steals per game. Jamie Sandschaefer is averaging 10.8 points per game but missed Wednesday’s contest with an injury. Jaycie Roy is averaging 8.5 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. Gabrielle Staub is grabbing 7.5 rebounds per contest.

SWIC is 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in the GRAC. SWIC has lost its last two games. Sophia Thompson leads SWIC with 14.7 points per game, and Isabelle Farrell averages 12.0 points and 4.8 assists per game.

On the men’s side, Lake Land and SWIC are currently tied atop the GRAC standings with 3-0 records. Lake Land is 9-2 overall on the season and defeated Lincoln Land on Wednesday for its third straight win.

Josh Jefferson, who has been limited to five games this season but has played in the last two, leads Lake Land with 19.0 points and 2.2 steals per game. Josh Robinson is averaging 14.8 points and 4.2 assists per game, and Amel Kuljuhovic is averaging 13.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. Dazon Farris is averaging 12.2 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game, and Kevin Williams is averaging 12.1 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game.

SWIC is 8-2 on the season and won its last game. Javonte Perkins is averaging 22.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Jaalam Hill is averaging 19.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
