PEORIA — The Lake Land women’s basketball team was neck and neck with Illinois Central College on Wednesday. The first quarter ended in a 19-all tie. At halftime, the two teams were knotted up at 33.
But then Illinois Central found a way to pull away in the third quarter. ICC took a 5-point lead and then scored 27 points in the fourth quarter to grab an 80-65 win over Lake Land.
“Tough fourth quarter. We played well in the second quarter and seven minutes into the third quarter,” Johnson said. “We had trouble scoring in the final 13 minutes.”
Lake Land fell to 19-11 on the season. The Lady Lakers host Olney Central College at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Avery Jackson had 21 points and five assists in the loss. Koty Crowder and Aislinn Parish each had 12 points, and Crowder had four assists. Gabby Staub had 12 rebounds, Jaycie Roy had seven rebounds and Jamie Sandschafer had four steals.
