ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (JG-TC) -- Charleston's Shae Littleford, a 5-7 freshman guard, was named to the five-member second team Class 3A Associated Press girls' basketball team.
Littleford helped the Lady Trojans reach the Class 3A Sweet Sixteen for the first time in school history. Charleston tied the school record for number of wins in a season with 25. They finished at 25-3 and 10-2 in the Apollo Conference.
Littleford led the team in points per game (19.5), assists (3.8) and steals (3.3) as well as free throw percentage (83 percent). She also averaged 3.3 rebounds and shot 46 percent from the field.
Littleford tied with Rockford Lutheran's Ambrannette Storr with 46 points for the final spot on the first team. Storr had more first team votes putting her on the first team over Littleford. First team votes received five points, while second team received four points. A player must have been mentioned on a minimum of two ballots to receive honorable mention.
No other JG-TC area player was on the second team or the five-member first team for the 14-member honorable mention, but fellow Apollo Conference member Effingham had Carysn Fearday on the second team.
