MARTINSVILLE -- Martinsville only has nine players in the girls' basketball program this season  and are coming off a 2-24 season where they gave up 51 points per game, while only scoring 32 points per game . However, the Lady Bluestreaks return all-Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division player Audria Truelove.

Truelove returns for her senior season after averaging 12.8 points per game, good for 10th in the JG-TC area last season.

“Audria Truelove is a senior this year and wanting to have a positive senior season to end her high school career,” Martinsville head coach Josh Roberts said. “Kyla McIntyre is a junior has continued to work hard and looking for her to have a good season this year.”

McIntyre and sophomore Aubrey Hook are other returning letter winners for Martinsivlle, who lost three players from last year.

Roberts mentioned that the team , which has one more player on the roster than last season, has a goal of winning 15 games on the year, including several in the conference, and competing for a Regional championship.

Along with the two upper-classmen, Martinsville is to look for help from sophomore Aubrey Hook and six freshmen, including two 5-10  players in Courtney Davidson and Lindsay Higgins , who are to step up and fill positions and “to start contributing right away,” said Roberts.

Martinsville was 1-4 in the LOVC SE Division last year.

“It may seem cliche, but every game for us is big,” Roberts said. “We are team is majority underclassmen and we just want to improve with every game.”

The Lady Bluestreaks hosted Chrisman Monday in a non-conference game.
