MOLINE (JG-TC) -- Shelbyville, a team that was  tied for number eight in last week's Associated Press football rankings with Athens is now number eight by itself in the latest rankings. The Rams beat Sullivan/Okaw Valley 58-7 last week and are to face number two ranked Tuscola in a Central Illinois Conference game Friday.

Three other teams in the CIC are ranked as Decatur St. Teresa is number eight in Class 3A, while Warrensburg-Latham and Central A&M are tied for number 15 in Class 1A. 

In the Apollo Conference, the same one that Mattoon and Charleston compete in, Effingham is number eight in Class 4A, while Taylorville is number 12 and Mount Zion number 16.  

Newton, a member of the Little Illini Conference along with area team Casey-Westfield, is ranked number 14 in Class 3A.
