A-L-A-H wins LOVC NW match

ARTHUR—The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond volleyball team won a Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest division match over Cerro Gordo in two sets Tuesday: 25-18 and 25-13.

Taylor Powell slammed eight kills and seven aces to lead the Knights. Madison Brown and Liz Shipman each got four digs and Brown had 17 assists.

“This was a great team effort tonight and a win we earned,” said A-L-A-H coach Emily Crossman. “Our offense was firing in all cylinders and our defense was picking up balls that dropped previously. The girls stayed loose, yet focused. I am proud of their teamwork tonight.”

Cerro Gordo handed the Knights their only loss of the season in the LOVC NW Division tournament. 

A-L-A-H improves to 17-1 overall, 4-0 in the conference, and travels to Okaw Valley for another conference match Thursday.

Tri-County wins LOVC-SE match

BROADLANDS—Tri-County defeated Heritage in two sets Tuesday in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast division match: 25-9, 25-11.

Ali Smith led the Lady Titans with 12 kills. Maiya Eskew got eight digs and Julia Robertson had five aces. Kaylenn Hunt had four blocks.

Tri-County improves to 18-6 and hosts Martinsville at Kansas on Thursday.

Cumberland wins conference match

TOLEDO—Cumberland defeated Oblong in two sets Thursday in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast division match: 25-22, 27-25.

Claire Guyon led the Lady Pirates with 15 digs and four aces. Sadie Oakley had four kills.

Cumberland improves to 9-15 and travels to Villa Grove for Pink Night and another conference match Thursday.

Okaw Valley beats Bement

BEMENT—Okaw Valley defeated Bement in three sets Thursday in Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest division action: 25-22, 18-25, 25-19.

Sadie Zimmerman led the Lady Timberwolves with 16 assists. Paige Coleman got a double double with 11 kills and 15 digs and Natalie Jeffers had 11 digs and 13 assists.

Okaw Valley hosts Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond for another division match Thursday.

WSS beats Sullivan

SULLIVAN—WSS beat Sullivan 25-10,25-10 in a non-conference match Tuesday.

Mackenzi Tabbert led the Hatchets with 17 assists and three blocks. Megan Schlechte had nine kills while Taylor Rentfro led the team with five aces and six digs.

Sullivan’s Maddie Dickens picked up several WSS serves in service receive. The Lady Redskins earned six kills for the match.

Sullivan travels to Central A & M for a Central Illinois Conference match Thursday.

WSS improves to 19-4 and is scheduled to participate in the National Trail Conference tournament starting Thursday. That Hatchets face Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Neoga.

Neoga downs Dieterich

NEOGA—The Neoga volleyball team beat National Trail Conference foe Dieterich in two sets Thursday: 25-20 and 25-15.

Mary Hill led the Lady Indians with 11 kills. Aly Easton got three aces.

Neoga hosts Paris on Monday.

Arcola loses

ARGENTA—Arcola fell victim to Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest division foe Argenta-Oreana in two sets Tuesday: 25-21 and 25-20

Yesi Ramirez led the Lady Riders with 15 digs and Elizabeth Budd had five blocks. Gareila Becerra got 13 assists.

Arcola hosts Sangamon Valley for another division match Thursday.

Martinsville wins first LOVC SE contest

HUTSONVILLE -- The Martinsville volleyball team picked up its first Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division win Tuesday beating Hutsonville/Palestine 14-25m, 25-21, 25-13.

The Lady Bluestreaks were led by Julia Seaman with 11 kills, while Mallory Price had 12 digs.

Martinsville, 12-10 overall and 1-2 in the division is to travel to Kansas Thursday to play Tri-County in another LOVC SE game.

Shelbyville wins non-conference contest

SAINT ELMO -- Shelbyville swept St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday in a non-conference match 25-17, 25-16.

The Lady Rams, 18-10, are to travel to Decatur St. Teresa Thursday for a Central Illinois Conference contest. 

AOC loses

ARTHUR—Judah Christian defeated Arthur Okaw Christian 26-24, 27-29, 25-21 Tuesday.

AOC hosted Judah Christian this evening and lost in 3, 24-26, 29-27, 21-25.

Katie Brandt and Lillian Messmore each slammed 9 kills for the Conquering Riders. Anna Houk had 4 blocks. Messmore also got 17 digs and 5 aces.


Casey-Westfield/Martinsville beats Shelbyville

CASEY—The Casey-Westfield/Martinsville girls’ tennis team defeated Shelbyville 5-4 Tuesday.

Eva Richardson and Addie Squires each won a singles match for the Lady Warriors and paired up for a doubles win. Elizabeth Eckerty won her singles match and teamed up with Julia Herrera to win their doubles match.

Kat Martin won a singles match and with Amber Rezinas as partner won a doubles match.

Shelbyville and Casey-Westfield/Martinsville are to play in the Effingham St. Anthony Class 1A Sectional beginning Friday.

Kyle Haacke was 14th (290:29.92), Collings 15th (21:00.40), while Scholfield, Lane and Kimerlin finished 21, 27 and 39th respectively. 

"Jasmyn Dittamore ran a solid race," said Miller. "She didn't like her time at all, but I think all of the times were a little slower because of the strong wind. Victoria Ault ran a solid race again also (22:14.92, good for 33rd)."

Dittamore said, "I have never run against winds like that. I tried to stay at six minute miles and I am  happy with seventh place."
