Martinsville defeats Red Hill
MARTINSVILLE — Madoyln Wilhoit had a team-high seven kills as Martinsville swept Red Hill 25-18, 25-11 in a non-conference volleyball match.
The Lady Bluestreaks, 6-6, are to play host to Dieterich Thursday in another non-conference contest.
CASEY — Hutsonville-Palestine defeated Casey-Westfield 25-19 and 25-18 in a non-conference volleyball match.
Myriah Warner led the Lady Warriors with 17 digs. Jae Lynn Riggleman got five kills and three aces.
Casey-Westfield falls to 3-13 and hosts Newton in a Little Illini Conference match Thursday.
Perrine sets course record
MOWEAQUA — In its first year of cross country, Okaw Valley's Parker Perrine set a course record on the three-mile course running a 17:58 in a meet with four teams, but there were not enough individuals for a team score. Okaw Valley had been in a co-op with Sullivan in years past.
Shelbyville had one runner in the meet, and Zachary Hood was eighth with a time of 21:25.
On the girls' side, Shelbyville had two runners, with Trinity Turner finishing seventh with a time of 24:49.
Shelbyville is to compete in the Tuscola Classic Saturday at 10 a.m. at Wimple Park, while Okaw Valley is to travel to Arthur for the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond Invite at the Great Pumpkin Patch Sept. 19.
