Richardson, Ellis advance in 1A sectional

DANVILLE -- Tri-County's Logan Richardson and Sullivan's Caden Ellis both advanced to the Illinois High School Association Class 1A state boys' golf meet Monday. Richardson shot a 75,while Ellis shot a 78 in the sectional at Harrison Park, which was hosted by Bismarck-Henning.

Suullivan just missed advancing as a team placing fourth with a 339. The top three teams advanced to state. Illiana Christian won with a 308.

Arcola/Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond's Jacob Butler competed in with a 90, shooting a 42 on the boack nine and a 48 on the front nine. He failed to qualify for state as did Tri-County's Cody Richardson, who shot an 87. Four golfers finished with a 79, which was the last to qualify (top 10 individuals not on an advancing team). 

Leach competes at sectionals

CARLYLE- Shelbyville’s Will Leach competed and  at the IHSA Boy’s 1A golf sectional at Carlyle’s Governor’s Run Golf Course on Monday.

Leach placed 40th out of over one hundred players with a score of 86. Leach did not advance to State.


WSS defeats Arcola

WINDSOR- WSS Volleyball defeated Arcola on their Pink Out and Senior Night on Monday 25-12 in both sets. 

The Hatchets, 18-4, travels to Sullivan Tuesday for a non-conference match.

The Lady Riders will continue its season on Tuesday at Argenta-Oreana in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division contest. 

WSS places second in  Pana/Shelby Invite

PANA- WSS reached the championship game before falling to St. Thomas More 25-12, 25-14. The Hatchets went 3-2 on the day. 

Other participating schools were Rochester, Shelbyville, Pana, Effingham and Neoga.

WSS’s Megan Schlechte and Mackenzi Tabbert made the all-conference team. WSS’s record is now 17-4 overall and 8-0 in The National Trail Conference.

Schlecthe had 59 kills and 41 digs to lead the Hatchets, while Mikayla Haddock was tops in aces with four. 

Neoga's Mary Hill also made the all-tournament team. Hill led the Lady Indians in kills and blocks with 26 and eight respectively. 

Shelbyville ended the tournament with 17-10 overall record and a 5-0 record in the Central Illinois Conference.


Mitchell third in Prairie Central Invite

FAIRBURY -- Shelbyville's Ailey Mitchell placed third in the Prairie Central Hawk Cross Country Invite on Saturday with a time of 18:49.8 in the race that had 77 girls. Urbana University High's Arielle Summitt won with a time of 18:26.2.  Rachel Throneburg was 41st with a time of 24:07.7 for the Lady Rams.

On the boys' side Ryan Skowronski was sixth with a time of 16:52.4. A total of 79 runner competed in the meet with Hoopeston Area's Trey Houmes winning with a time of 16:31.7. Luke Brown was 52nd for the Rams with a time of 19:31.7.
