Casey-Westfield defeats Tri-County
KANSAS (JG-TC) — Casey-Westfield baseball defeated Tri-County 15-2 in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
For the Warriors, Peter Collins, Logan Hawker and Alex Rodriquez each hit a double.
For the Titans, Cody Richardson hit a home run.
Casey-Westfield will continue the season by hosting Robinson on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Tri-County will travel to Martinsville on Wednesday to play at 4:30 p.m.
WSS sweeps Flora
STEWARDSON -- WSS baseball took an easy 10-0 win over Flora in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
For the Hatchets, Chase Thies and Isaac Kramer each hit two doubles. Beau Bennett hit a triple.
WSS will continue the season on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Robinson.
Okaw Valley shuts out Neoga
NEOGA — Okaw Valley beat Neoga 4-0 Tuesday in a non-conference contest.
Tanner Coleman got the win allowing two hits and striking out nine batters in the first two and a third innings. Austin Harshman finished the shutout with no hits and one strike out.
Garrett Fritz and Cody Drake each hit a solo home run for the Timberwolves. Hayden Francisco hit two doubles.
Clayton Butler took the loss allowing four hits and two runs while striking out one batter in the first four and two-thirds innings.
Drew Ramert and Caleb Hill each got a hit for the Indians.
Neoga travels to Oblong on Wednesday.
Okaw Valley hosts Beecher City for another non-conference game on Wednesday.
Shelbyville downs Sullivan
SULLIVAN — Shelbyville defeated Central Illinois Conference foe Sullivan 7-5 Tuesday, but not before the Redskins put some heat on the Rams with three runs in the final two innings.
Shelbyville scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Redskins came back with two of their own the bottom for a 2-2 tie. Then the Rams scored five runs for a 7-2 lead and some breathing room. But Sullivan wasn’t finished yet as the Redskins came alive again in the fifth inning to score a run making it 7-3. Sullivan got two more runs in the seventh, but the Rams stopped them for the win.
Kiefer Bathe got the win allowing seven hits and four runs, two earned, while striking out six batters in the first six innings.
Gavin Stockdale batted 3-for-4 and batted in a run for the Rams.
Spencer Johnson took the loss allowing six hits and seven runs, three earned, in the first one and a third innings striking out one.
Tim Lawyer was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Redskins.
Sullivan travels to Arcola for a non-conference game Wednesday.
Shelbyville is scheduled to play at Vandalia on Thursday.
Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond rallies past Cumberland
GREENUP -- Cumberland led Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 3-0 after five innings . The Knights tied the game with three runs in the sixth and the game went to an extra inning when A-L-A-H scored two runs and won 5-3 Tuesday.
Freshman Brady Borntreger was the winning pitcher in the non-conference baseball game allowing no hits in four innings with two strikeouts and a walk.
At the plate Lucas Otto was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run batted in,while Cody Miller was 2-for-4 as was Logan Brough, who drove in two runs.
The Knights are to travel to Cerro Gordo to face Cerro Gordo/Bement in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division game Wednesday, while Cumberland is to travel to Villa Grove to face Villa Grove/Heritage in a LOVC Southeast Division game.
ARTHUR — Arthur Okaw Christian defeated Kankakee Trinity Academy 13-3 Tuesday.
Trevor Beachy got the win allowing one hit and three runs, two earned, while striking out five batters in the first three innings. Beachy also hit two doubles for the Conquering Riders.
Darrin Beachy hit a home run while Michael Miller and Sean Mast each doubled.
Shelbyville defeats Sullivan
SULLIVAN — Shelbyville defeated Sullivan 15-2 in a Central Illinois Conference game on Tuesday.
For the Lady Rams, Hannah Kemp hit a triple. Joselyn Lewis and Sydney Trainor each hit a double and triple. Alison Schuricht hit two doubles. Savannah Marty, Brianna Reed and Kayla McCabe each hit a double.
Shelbyville will continue the season at Vandalia on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
For the Lady Redskins, Irie Dulin hit a triple.
Sullivan has a 4-4 season record and a 1-1 conference record. The Redskins will continue the season on Wednesday in an away game against Arcola at 4:30 p.m.
A-L-A-H defeats Neoga
NEOGA -- A-L-A-H defeated Neoga 13-2 in a non-conference game on Monday.
For the Knights, Taylor Powell hit four doubles and Jolynn Barbee hit one double.
For the Lady Indians, Kelsey Partlow hit a double.
A-L-A-H will continue the season on Wednesday at Cerro-Gordo at 4:30 p.m.
Neoga will continue the season by hosting Cumberland on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Arcola falls to Argenta-Oreana
ARCOLA — Arcola was defeated 10-6 by Argenta-Oreana in a Little Okaw Valley-Northwest on Tuesday.
For the Lady Riders, KayLee Hohlbauch hit a double and a home run. Lindsey Helmuth hit a double.
Arcola will continue the season at home on Wednesday against Sullivan at 4:30 p.m.
Okaw Valley loses
BETHANY — Tolono Unity beat Okaw Valley 16-2 Tuesday in a non-conference game.
Grace Bunfill took the loss allowing 16 hits and 16 runs, 13 earned, while striking out six batters in six innings.
Natalie Jeffers hit a home run for the Lady Timberwolves and Madison Vogel doubled.
Okaw Valley travels to Cerro Gordo-Bement for a Little Okaw Valley Northwest division game Thursday.
STRASBURG — Flora defeated Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 3-1 Tuesday.
Flora’s three runs came in the fourth innings. WSS got on the scoreboard in the seventh.
Calla Roney took the loss allowing two hits and three runs, none earned, in six innings on the mound while striking out six batters.
Megan Schlechte hit a triple for the Hatchets.
WSS travels to Charleston on Tuesday.
Cumberland places third at Robinson meet
ROBINSON -- Cumberland placed third out of the five teams in Robinson on Monday. The other teams that competed were Robinson, Newton, Palestine/Hutsonville and Oblong.
For the Pirates, Tyson Magee placed first in the high jump with a height of 6 feet. Miles Gerhardt placed first in the 400 meter run with a time of 55.12.
Cumberland will continue the season when the girls' track team heads to Robinson on Friday.
