The Mattoon soccer team won its own tournament going 3-0. MOUNT ZION (JG-TC) -- Charleston's number five and six singles tennis players, Alexis Orlik and Evie Rudibaugh won the Apollo Conference title Saturday going 2-0. 

Orlik beat Lincoln's Brooke Montcalm 6-0, 6-0 and Mattoon's Amari Brown in the championship 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5). Rudibaugh beat Lincoln's Madi Egnew 6-2, 6-0 and Mount Zion's Abbie Kenell to win the title 7-6 (10-8), 6-1.

Rachel Thomas earned second in the number three singles for the Lady Trojans.

As a team Charleston was third with 34 points.


In Monday's JG-TC in the Coles County Roundup under "Wolf wins John Macek Memorial Golf Tourney" on B2 the incorrect site for the Charleston girls' regional was listed. Charleston is in Class 1A and is to compete at Tuscola Wednesday.
