Charleston Swimming to Open Season Saturday

The Charleston High School boys swimming team opens its season on Dec. 2 at Padovan Pool at Eastern Illinois. The meet starts at 11 a.m. and Charleston will host Mahomet-Seymour and St. Thomas More.

The boys are coached by Brian Bower and assisted by Scott Ebinger and Evan Bower. Returning for the Trojans are co-captains Jonathon Phillips, Finn O’Neal and Josh Hoh.

Also on the team are Joshua Johnson, Tanner Gray, Jarred Cullum, sophomores Aiden Petersen and Simon Choate, Aly Abou Zaid, Will Cope, Kevin Caltry, Ethan Blatnik, Jacob Tresslar and Josh Tresslar.

Coach Bower says it’s a young team with much promise and that the team has exhibited a strong work ethic.

Charleston falls to Mahomet-Seymour

MAHOMET— Charleston boys’ basketball lost against Mahomet-Seymour 70-43 in an Apollo Conference match up on Friday.

During the game, Charleston had 22 rebounds and 11 turnovers.

Charleston will continue its season when they host Taylorville for another Apollo Conference game on Tuesday.
