EDWARDSVILLE — After not playing for 12 days, the Lake Land baseball team finally got a break from Mother Nature as the Lakers traveled to SIU Edwardsville to take on Rend Lake.
Lake Land got a solid performance from starter Parker Nolan and a three-RBI day from Garrett Brachbill as the Lakers beat Rend Lake 5-3 on Wednesday.
"It was just good to play again. It's been 12 days since we played," Lake Land coach Bill Jackson said. "It's a young group, so we just have to keep playing. It was nice to get outside and play, and we got a good conference win."
Parker Nolan went the first six innings to get the win. He gave up only two hits and one earned run. Devon Still pitched the next two innings, and Ben Sweeney pitched the ninth inning for the save.
Brachbill went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Nic Hutchinson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Sam Gubbins was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Lake Land is scheduled to play two games at Wabash Valley today (Thursday).
