Lake Land slams Kaskaskia twice
CENTRALIA (JG-TC) – Lake Land softball combined for 38 hits as the Lady Lakers defeated Kaskaskia College twice in a doubleheader at Centralia on Wednesday. Lake Land beat Kaskaskia 19-1 and 16-2 in two five inning games.
Emily Oestreich (24-2) struck out nine batters in three innings to pick up the win for Lake Land in game one. Katelyn Fisher (14-7) was the winning pitcher in game two with four hits and three strikeouts in three innings.
Lake land left-fielder Addison Baele had seven hits, with three doubles, and six RBIs. Madison Boone had five hits, with two doubles, a triple, and five RBIs. Tegan Murphy also had five hits, with three doubles and five RBIs. Alina Lance had three hits, all doubles, and five RBIS.
Murphy, Haylee Short, Kendall Hastings, and Samantha Valentine each had a stolen base.
Lake Land, 46-11, (30-3 in the GRAC) plays Lincoln Trail at Robinson on Thursday.
Lake Land baseball falls
MATTOON - The Lake Land baseball team lost to John A. Logan in a Great Rivers Athletic Conference doubleheader 10-1 and 12-1.
The Lakers, 15-25 overall and 8-13 in the conference, are to travel to Carterville Sunday for a nine inning GRAC game.
