CHARLESTON -- Eastern Illinois University’s Theatre Department opens its 2018-19 performance season with Jen Silverman’s satirical play “The Moors.”
"The Moors" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4, 5, and 6, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 7. The performance will take place in the Doudna Fine Arts Center’s Black Box Theatre. Seating is limited. Tickets for “The Moors” are available now at the Doudna Box Office or online at Doudnatix.com.
“The Moors” is about two sisters and a dog who live their lives on the bleak English moors during the 19th century, and dream of love and power. The arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three characters on a strange and dangerous path. Directed by EIU theater professor Jean Wolski, “The Moors” is a dark comedy about love, desperation, and visibility.
Featured performers included Jenni Passig (Agatha), Cheyenne Flores (Huldey), Adriana Phelps-Patton (Emilie), Hannah Kelly (Marjory), Cullen Scurlock (The Mastiff), and Sabrina Turner (The Moor-Hen).
