Ewing earns license to practice architecture

MATTOON -- The Upchurch Group, Inc. of Mattoon announced that Andrew Ewing has earned his State of Illinois license to practice the profession of architecture.

He completed the master of architecture program at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 2013, and joined The Upchurch Group, Inc. on March 23, 2015, as an intern architect while completing the pre-qualifications for the professional licensing exams.

Ewing has several years of experience in all phases of design and project management, for public school projects, manufacturing and health care facilities. A lifelong resident of the area, Andrew currently resides in Neoga with his wife, Ashley.

Mattoon Rehab honors Thomas

MATTOON -- Sandra Thomas has been named as the employee of the month for December at Mattoon Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

Thomas is a certified nursing assistant and has been on staff since July at Mattoon Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, 2121 S. Ninth St. She was voted employee of the month by her peers. Mattoon Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center reported that Thomas is a team player and a valuable member of the staff.

Helton celebrates service anniversary at LSC

MATTOON -- Mike Helton celebrated his 35th service anniversary with LSC Communications on Jan 10.

Helton was hired at RR Donnelley in 1982 as a part-time reserve employee and became full-time in 1983 as a material handler. He was promoted to rolltender in 1988, assistant press lead in 1997, and to his current position of press lead in 2006.

Helton and his wife Lisa reside in Dennison.
