EFFINGHAM -- The Effingham Public Library has announced a pilot In-home Daycare Outreach Program thanks to a $500 Community Champions Grant from Constellation, an Exelon Co.

A total of 10 in-home daycares will be selected for this pilot project, set to begin this fall. Effingham Public Library plans to provide a story time for the children at the day cares, along with bags filled with books and early literacy toys and games. These services will be provided on a monthly basis, and the bags will be interchanged among the participating in-home day cares.

Through Constellation’s Community Champions Program, organizations are encouraged to apply for small grants, up to $500, from Constellation for causes that are important to their community. Preferred consideration is given to those requests where the project, organization, or initiative focuses on education, environment, or youth.

Any in-home day cares in the Effingham city limits that are interested in taking part should contact Programming Outreach Manager Catherine Bailey to discuss their interest. Contact Bailey at 217-342-2464 or email catherine@effinghamlibrary.org.
