PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Mattoon native Jon Henderson has retired after 40 years with MassMutual and he was honored recently for his dedication at the company's annual management conference in Las Vegas, Nev.

A 1979 graduate of Northwestern University, Henderson first joined MassMutual in sales and became a district manager before taking over the Peoria distribution franchise in 1990. In 1998, he moved to lead the Pittsburgh, Pa. agency, one of the 80 distribution centers for the Fortune 100 company based in Springfield, Mass.

Under his leadership, the Pittsburgh office grew to more than 100 registered representatives with 30 managers and staff. Henderson’s group lead MassMutual in executive benefit sales for 14 years and was the second largest disability insurance agency 18 times.
