MATTOON -- The new Repeat Threads Resale Shop in Mattoon offers boutique-style clothing, children's apparel, Harley-Davidson wear and more.

Owner Kristine Soltwedel of Shumway opened Repeat Threads on June 1 at 217 Lake Land Boulevard, next to Rent-A-Center. Soltwedel said she previously operated Repeat Threads in Effingham for more than a year but relocated to Mattoon to fill a niche following the retirement of other resale clothing shop owners in the community.

"The community has really been welcoming. They have open arms. I get comments all the time that they are so glad we are here and that they needed a new resale shop," Soltwedel said, adding that she plans to hold a grand opening in August.

Soltwedel said she appreciates that Lake Lake Boulevard/U.S. Route 45 is a busy street traveled by an average of 10,2000 vehicles per day, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation, and that nearby Charleston Avenue/Illinois Route 16 is even busier.

"There are a lot of other businesses operating near here, and I like that too," Soltwedel said of her new location.

Repeat Threads carries name brand clothing for women, men, juniors and infants, and it offers sizes ranging from preemies to plus. Soltwedel said she places a particular emphasis on boutique style clothing. The shop owner said she also tries to stock Harley-Davidson clothing and riding gear, which have proven to be among her most popular sales items.

"We do have good quality clothing at low prices," Soltwedel said.

The sales floor also features designer and boutique purses, home decor, and other additional resale items, as well as handmade crafts such as jewelry, key chains and goat milk lotions and soaps.

Soltwedel said she sells consignment clothing that is clean and in good condition, without spots or other stains. She said prospective consignors can drop off clothing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the shop.

Repeat Threads is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday to Saturday. More information is available by calling the shop at 217-663-7605, or by visiting www.repeatthreadsresaleshop.com or the Repeat Threads page on Facebook.
