Lincoln Log Cabin Christmas event

LERNA — A look at 19th Century Christmas observations will take place at Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site on Saturday.

The site's "Old-Fashioned Christmas" event is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. and will feature interpreters discussing changes in how the holiday was observed, according to a news release.

Features of the event will include changes in holiday observations during the 1840s, when Lincoln's father and stepmother lived at the site, the release said. It said that was time that many current traditions were making their way to the county and starting to be observed.

Also, the site's visitors center will be the location for music, snacks and family-friendly activities, the news release said.

Lincoln Log Cabin is located in southern Coles County, featuring the home of Thomas and Sarah Bush Lincoln.
