CHAMBER COLUMN: Third annual 'Tour de Charleston' to be held in June

  • 0

Our 3rd Annual Tour de Charleston, sponsored by 1st Fed of Central Illinois, is right around the corner on Saturday, June 1st. We are so thrilled that this year we will be adding a one-mile Family Fun Ride to the race! In addition to our existing 12.5-mile, 25-mile and 50-mile race, the Family Fun Ride will offer a new opportunity for the whole family to be involved in the bike race! The 1-mile ride is appropriate for all age levels! Children are able to ride in the fun ride on their own, but adults are also encouraged to ride the one-mile course as well!

The Family Fun Ride will take off from the Courthouse Square at 9 a.m.; the 12.5-mile, 25-mile and 50-mile rides will have staggered starts at 8 a.m. from the Courthouse Square. Registration is now open for all four races! The registration fee for the one mile is $20, the 12.5- and 25-mile rides are $30, and the 50-mile ride is $50. Registration fees include a T-shirt and a chip timed race bib for the 12.5, 25, and 50-mile rides. To register, visit the chamber website at or at

After the race, make sure to stay on the Square for all the activities! The 5th Annual MuseFest will take place on the Square from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will have food vendors, craft vendors, live music, and a kid’s area with a bounce house and bumper cars! Roc's Blackfront Tavern & Grill will also be hosting a Porch Party with specialty food and drinks after the Tour de Charleston. This is one day that you will not want to miss!

Funding for the Tour de Charleston provided in part by City of Charleston Tourism Fund.

Jessica Killough is president and CEO for the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce.
