TUSCOLA -- LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, has appointed Aaron McKee as the new site manager of the Tuscola Plant.
According to a press release, McKee will oversee more than 100 employees and contractors in his new role.
McKee is replacing Shawn Cullen, who was appointed the site manager of the LyondellBasell plant in Lake Charles, LA.
With 15 years of engineering and management experience in maintenance and chemical manufacturing, McKee is a seasoned professional who most recently served as the olefins and operations manager at LyondellBasell’s Morris Complex.
"I am excited to work alongside the hard-working people at the Tuscola Plant,” said McKee. “The community reminds me of south-central Iowa where I spent a large portion of my childhood and six years in the Iowa Air Guard. I look forward to continuing our history of providing quality jobs for local workers.”
McKee is a graduate of Iowa State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
McKee plans to be active in the Tuscola community and will participate on the Tuscola Chamber and Economic Development Committee.
The Tuscola plant employs around 100 people and occupies nearly 900 acres. The site produces ethyl alcohol, diethyl ether and specialty polymers. Ethyl alcohol, or ethanol, is used in many health care and personal product applications such as hair spray, capsule manufacturing, hand sanitizer, and pharmaceutical cleaning.
Diethyl ether finds applications as a laboratory reagent solution, usage in chemical synthesis, as an ammunition drier, and starter fluid. The specialty polymers produced here include microfine powders used as additives in personal care products, lubricants, binding agents, water filtration systems, and moisture barriers.
