CHARLESTON -- Coalition for People in Need (CPN) volunteers assist with office management and in supplying the CPN Helping Hands ministry with personal hygiene items and other necessities. The sole salaried staff member is part-time Director Jennifer Reilly Woodall.

The primary goal of CPN is to provide a Christian faith-based support program to those in need who reside within the 61920 zip code. The agency was established in 1994 to eventually involve eight Charleston Christian churches as the major financial sources to support the charitable work of CPN to support emergency needs.

The coalition also receives financial support from private donations, the United Way, and the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

Approximately 1,500 clients have sought assistance this past year. A large majority of those seeking assistance received it.

The telephone number for CPN is 217-345-5099. The office is located at 990 West State St., along with facilities of the Charleston Area Churches Food Pantry and the Charleston Habitat for Humanity.
