EFFINGHAM -- The Illinois State Council of Epsilon Sigma Alpha held its 70th Annual State Convention on June 8-10 at the Effingham Holiday Inn. This year's theme was "ESA...Our Story" and was co-hosted by members of Beta Mu, Charleston and Delta Xi, Neoga.
The keynote speakers were International Council Representative Gail Marchant and Midwest Area Regional Conference (MARC) Representative Julene Donnay. Honored guests at the Convention were the Collegiate members from Alpha Chi, SIU-Edwardsville and Alpha Epsilon, EIU, Charleston.
Rhonda Rawlings, 2017 ISC President introduced the elected 2018-19 State Officers: Kathleen Grissom, 2018 State President, Alpha Upsilon, Mattoon; Terri Taylor-Crum, President-Elect, Omega Nu, Mattoon; Mary Stewart, Recording Secretary, Beta Eta, Fairfield; Leann Polston, Treasurer, Omega Nu, Mattoon; Fran Harris-Shaffer, Corresponding Secretary, Xi Chi, O'Fallon; Maria Bingheim, Parliamentarian, Epsilon Zeta, Quincy and Adrian Sperduto, Workshop Coordinator, Xi Chi, O'Fallon.
The State Distinguished Achievement Award was presented to Keith Summers, of the K. C. Summers Dealership, Mattoon, by Barbara Warmoth, DAA Chair. Summers previously won the Alpha Upsilon DAA Award, Chapter level, in April.
ESA is one of the world's most distinctive leadership and service organizations. The International Council Philanthropic projects are St. Jude Children's Hospital, Hope for Heroes and Easterseals. The Illinois State Council project includes Camp New Hope, Neoga.
