MATTOON -- The Mattoon Kennel Club will be hosting their annual AKC Sanctioned "B" Match this Saturday at Peterson Park in Mattoon.

Registration is from 8:30-9:45 a.m. with judging beginning at 10 a.m. The entry fee is $5 per dog. The puppy classes are 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, and the Open Class is for dogs over one year of age.

All classes are for AKC registered non-champion dogs. Ribbons and prizes are awarded. For more information, contact Jan Marcott, match secretary at 217-347-9690 or Merle Taylor, president, at 217-621-5169.

The Kennel Club will also be holding the AKC Canine Good Citizenship Award testing. Any dog is eligible to enter this testing. The entry fee is also $5, and the owner will need to provide verification of rabies vaccinations. For more information on the Good Citizenship testing, contact Bobbi Borbely at 618-283-3403.

The public is also invited to a "Meet the Breeds" event which will give them the opportunity to come out and see the dogs and talk to breeders to learn more about their animal companions. This will take place during the registration from 8:30-9:45 a.m. There is no charge to the public.
