WAUCONDA -- Gloria Jean Flagg-Houseworth, age 69, was called home by the Lord on February 5, 2018 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Gloria was the first child born to Charles and Ernestine Flagg in Belle Glade, Florida on November 24, 1948. As a child in a military family, Gloria lived on U.S. Army bases in Maryland and Missouri before her family settled in Highland Park, Michigan. It was in Highland Park that Gloria graduated from High School, attended Nursing School, and became a Registered Nurse. Gloria worked as a Nurse at Highland Park Hospital, was Charge Nurse of the Burn Victims Unit at Detroit General Hospital, and Nurse at Saginaw General Hospital.
From the union of her marriage, two wonderful children were brought into the world, Tara and Billy, whom she adored and cherished. Gloria and her family moved to Charleston, Illinois where she raised her family and helped to establish and worked at a family medical practice and became a friend to many.
Gloria moved to live with her daughter, son-in-law and four of her grandchildren after receiving the gift of a kidney transplant from her daughter. However, after a long and courageous battle with numerous ailments, her incredible and vivacious spirit was called home by the Lord and she knows no more pain and suffering.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Charles Flagg. She is survived by her mother, Ernestine Williams Flagg; her children Tara (Michael) Ori and William (Alea) Houseworth II; the father of her children, Dr. William Henry Houseworth; her six grandchildren, Jackson Ori, Nicholas Ori, Audrey Ori, Leo Ori, Grant Houseworth and Logan Houseworth; her sisters, Dortha (David) Kelley, Charlene (Morris) Knight, Bridget Flagg, Arlene (Keith) Davis; her niece Daneisha Kelley and her nephews Richard Armstrong, Joseph Davis, Joshua Davis and Charles Knight, and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church located at 22333 W. Erhart Rd., Mundelein, IL on February 12, 2018 and will be preceded by a Visitation Gathering at 9:00AM at the Church.
