MATTOON -- Jason Scot Watson, age 46, of Camargo passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services honoring his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 1804 South 9th Street, Mattoon, IL 61938 with Pastor Dennis Strawn officiating. Burial will follow at Drummond Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Jason was born on April 8, 1971 in Mattoon the son of Richard and Mary Sue (Rue) Watson. He married Sherry Lynn Yunker on March 30, 1996.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sherry Watson; daughters, Rachel Watson and Liberty Watson; mother, Mary Sue Watson; brothers, Michael (Jill) Watson, Rick (Susan) Watson and Steve Watson; brothers-in-law, Jay (Kelly) Yunker and Josh (Amanda) Yunker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Les and Clara Yunker; and many aunts and uncles. Jason was preceded in death by his father, Dick Watson; son, Thomas Watson; and brother, David Watson.

Jason was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mattoon. He was involved with his family in local theater and was a professional photographer for many years. Jason loved reading, face painting and going to movies. He especially enjoyed learning about WWII history as well as learning about the latest scientific advantages and gadgets. He was a trekkie and a huge Star Wars fan. Jason enjoyed meeting new people and made friends easily. He was a loyal friend and he had been close to many of his friends for over 30 years. Jason was an amazing husband and father to his family. He had a strong relationship with God and did not fear death. Jason always said he was ‘blessed more than he deserved’ and his life verse was Jeremiah 29:11. Jason will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
