SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Surrounded by family, Marilyn (Young) Blane, 74, passed away at her home on November 19, 2017. Marilyn was born on November 30, 1942, in Mattoon, IL to Alice and Emerson Young. After attending University of Illinois in Urbana, she moved to sunny San Diego where she graduated with her BS degree at San Diego State University.
Marilyn brightened the lives of all who knew her. She loved water aerobics at the YMCA, exploring the world, being at the beach, reading books, playing music, and trips to the wine country. She loved to learn about the places she would travel to, learning history and languages to enrich the experience. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and true friend. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, and her sausage stuffing was her signature dish. We are grateful for all the wonderful times we shared with her. She will be missed by all who knew her smiling face and generous spirit.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 27 years, Charlie; her children John Michael, Tanya, and Tony, her sister in law Jan Young of Mattoon, IL, along with grandchildren, Kati, Sara, Arik and Bernadette, and their children. Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother David Young. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Coles County Humane Association.
