CHARLESTON -- Lillian Virginia “Sweet” Moore, age 93, formerly of St. Charles, MO, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at 1:15 P.M. at Brookstone Estates in Charleston, IL.

Private services will be held at a later date. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, is assisting the family.

Virginia was born February 18, 1924, in Bates City, MO, the daughter to James and Esther (Stobaugh) Ford. She married George S. Moore on December 29, 1946. He passed away on August 5, 2004. She is survived by her children; one son, Scott D. Moore and wife Catherine of Charleston, IL; one daughter, Donna Kay Lenz and husband Tom of Prairie Grove, AR; two grandchildren, Leesa Abell and husband Jeff of Waynesville, OH, Laura Reinert and husband Andrew of Springfield, IL; and two great-grandchildren, Theo and Hayden Reinert. She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, James Ford and Robert Ford.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Charles, MO, and graduated from Lindenwood College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a budget analyst for McDonnell Douglas. She actively participated in the Rose Society and Ladies Auxiliary of The American Legion. “Ginny” enjoyed her church, family, and garden.
