TUSCOLA -- It's time to register for the seventh annual Douglas County Area Good Life Fair for 50+ sponsored by AARP of Illinois and the Douglas County Health Department  to be held from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Tuscola Community Building, 122 North Central Ave. W.

Organizers have welcomed hundreds of attendees each of the past three years and this year they anticipate welcoming over 200.

Once again all attendees will be invited to enjoy the free breakfast buffet from Flesor's Candy Kitchen from 9-10 a.m. and this year organizers also welcome the Lions Club of Illinois Foundation.

The Lions Club Foundation of Illinois has agreed to offer the public, walk-in, free screening appointments for both Diabetic Retinopathy and hearing throughout the event from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27.

Registration is required in advance but there is no event fee. Tables and chairs will be set up prior to your arrival and WiFi is available. Booth set-up can be arranged the afternoon of the 26th between 2-4 p.m. or any time after 7 a.m. on Oct. 27.

Organizers ask each agency, business and facility booth to donate one item to raffle at the event. This can be anything you choose. If you are unable to bring anything due to financial constraints, they still welcome your attendance.

Please submit your registrations as soon as you can. Any agency/business/facility registered by 4:30 p.m. this Friday will be included in public promotion of the event beginning this Friday, Sept. 15, through next Thursday, Sept. 21. Registrations received after Friday will be included in event promotions the following week.

We encourage you to share the event flyer on your social media pages and if you haven't already done so, please like the Douglas County Health Department page, visit their Events page on Facebook for the Good Life Fair for 50+ and let them know you'll be attending. You can reach their page directly by entering: dchealthdept into the Facebook search bar at the top and should be immediately directed to their page.

Organizers are working on a few surprises and hope to share more details in the coming weeks. Please submit your registration, follow our event, share event details and stay in the loop.
