Vault Art Gallery to host a 'Retro Christmas' event
TUSCOLA — The Vault Art Gallery in downtown Tuscola plans "A Retro Christmas" from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, complete with 1950s aluminum Christmas trees, color wheels, and Susan Patterson playing holiday favorites on the piano in the Library Lounge Room.
The "retro" theme will continue with the playing of the 1946 film, "It's A Wonderful Life," in the back classroom area. The Christmas classic will be shown throughout the afternoon.
Cookies, coffee and other beverages will be provided. The event is free of charge.
Fundraiser for domestic violence program to be held
SULLIVAN -- Join in the family fun at Santa’s Workshop on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion, 8 East Strain St. Santa will be present for pictures and visits before and after the City Parade.
There will be a bake sale for holiday goodies to take home and a 50/50 drawing. Many items will be available during the silent auction. Along with visiting Santa, there will be crafting fun for the kids, including crafting tables to make items to take home. Treats will be available to purchase that day.
This program is supporting the Moultrie County Domestic Violence Program and is sponsored by Moultrie County CADV, Committee Against Domestic Violence. For more information, call 217-728-9303.
Strasburg American Legion to host fundraiser
STRASBURG -- The December Christmas Auction sponsored by Strasburg Liberty Post No. 289 of the American Legion will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Community Center.
The auction by Thomas Factory Outlet, with Dennis Aumann, auctioneer, is the major fundraiser for the American Legion Post. The post uses the proceeds from the auction to donate the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Americanism Essay prize money, Legion baseball, the Strasburg Veteran’s Memorial, Community Blood Drive, Stewardson-Strasburg yearbook, post prom activities, and American Legion Gifts to Yanks, among other programs.
Auction items include tools, toys, metal signs, food items, figurines, baskets, wind spinners, curved glass china cabinets, yard ornaments, pie safes, bikes, trikes, ceramics, wind spinners and much more.
A concession stand sponsored by the Strasburg American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 289 will be available.
