Teen Craftivity program to be held at library

CHARLESTON -- Teen Craftivity will be held at the Charleston Carnegie Public Library for middle and high schoolers from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday in The Zone.

Create beaded earrings for a gift or for yourself. All supplies will be provided on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. This is a free program and is open to the community: a library card is not needed to attend.

EIU to host 'A Picture Perfect Holiday' at Old Main

CHARLESTON -- Eastern Illinois University invites the public to “A Picture Perfect Holiday” at Old Main from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The event will take place in the Castle’s Cougill Foyer and feature refreshments, holiday music, and ornamental trees decorated by students from Ashmore, Carl Sandburg, Jefferson, Lake Crest, and Mark Twain elementary schools.

'Light up Strasburg' Christmas light contest set

STRASBURG -- The Annual “Light Up Strasburg” Christmas light contest will again be held this year. All residents are encouraged to participate in the Christmas light contest sponsored by the village.

Judging will take place on Thursday. Individuals do not have to enter the contest; anyone with Christmas lights is eligible to win. For further information, contact the Village Office at 217-644-3007.

Lake Land College offers dance classes

MATTOON -- Lake Land College is offering a series of dance classes in Mattoon and Effingham from January to May.

Five different dance styles will be offered: Country Slow Dance, Country Waltz, Night Club 2 Step, Swing, and West Coast Swing. Classes will meet at both Lake Land College West Building Atrium and Effingham Emergency Management Agency Building. Students can choose either location. Instructors Scott and Cheryl Sweet have been teaching dance for many years. The cost is $38 for four sessions of class.
