Christmas service to be held at at The Fields

MATTOON -- Special Christmas services will be held at 5 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. and 10:45 p.m. Sunday, featuring uplifting Christmas music, an inspiring message about the birth of Christ and a special candlelight experience. Events will held for kids as well, with age-specific environments as they experience their own telling of the Christmas story.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service set

MATTOON -- The public is invited to join the Family Worship Center for their Christmas Eve Candlelight Service from 9-10:15 p.m. Sunday. 

Pastor Josh Moore from Grace Community Church in New Market, Tenn., will be the special guest speaker. Christmas Worship Music will be provided by Pastor Brad Brown with the FWC Worship Team.

Moore will also be the guest speaker for the regular service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Brad Brown, who will be bringing the message "Bethlehem Backstage."

Comfortable attire is encouraged and children can wear their pajamas.

'From Heaven Above' Christmas service to be held 

MATTOON -- The public is invited to "From Heaven Above," the children’s Christmas service at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Children will tell about Jesus’ birth with joyful hearts, songs, and readings.

Christmas Eve Candlelight service to be held

GREENUP -- The people of the Greenup Presbyterian Church invite everyone to their Christmas Eve Candlelighting Service led by Bob Blade beginning at 11 p.m. Sunday.

They will sing Christmas carols and reflect on Jesus's birth as each person helps to illuminate the entire sanctuary with candlelight.

Refreshments will be offered afterward.

Christmas Eve service set at First United Methodist

MATTOON -- Mattoon First United Methodist Church will hold its traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Sunday evening.

The service starts at 7 p.m. Sunday and will include singing by the congregation and the church choir, along with guest musicians, plus a Christmas message by the Rev. Mike Smith. The highlight of the service is the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight in First United Methodist’s traditional sanctuary.

Anyone is welcome at Sunday evening’s service. First United Methodist Church is located at 16th and Charleston Avenue.

LOXA -- Christmas Eve Services will be held at Loxa Presbyterian Church, 210 N. Loxa Road. Gary Stephen will conduct 10:30 a.m. worship and the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight service with an Open Communion for all who desire to partake. 

Central Community Church plans Christmas Eve services

MATTOON -- Central Community Church will hold its Christmas Eve Candlelight Services at 10 a.m., 7 p.m., and 11 p.m. Sunday. The story of our Savior's birth will be shared from scripture, carols, and song.

MATTOON -- Christmas Eve service of worship, filled with songs, scriptures, and candle light are planned at the First Presbyterian Church. The same order of worship will be offered at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve at FPC.
