Trinity Lutheran church, school to mark anniversary

STEWARDSON -- Trinity Lutheran Church and School will hold the first of three special services during 2018 in honor of their 150th anniversary at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Guest preacher, Central Illinois District President the Rev. Mark Miller, has been invited to speak to the congregation, and his message will focus on “Celebrating a Christian Education.” The Trinity School children will provide special music during the service to kick off their celebration of National Lutheran Schools’ Week. A balloon launch will follow the service, along with a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The first Trinity Fair will be held at 1 p.m. Cake and punch will be served. Guests are welcome to attend the upcoming service, spaghetti dinner and school activity.

Steve Ladd to perform at worship center

MATTOON -- Join the Family Worship Center at 10 a.m. Sunday for a special time of worship with Christian artist Steve Ladd.

Ladd has performed on Gaither Homecoming videos, Grand Ole Opry, Carowinds, SilverDollar City, TBN, GMC, and NPR. As a solo artist he was awarded Favorite New Soloist in 2013 by Singing News, featured on Alan Jackson’s Precious Memories Vol. 2 album (won 2014 Billboard Music Award for Christian Album), toured with Michael Englishm, charted five Top 40 singles, and performed with Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Jonathan Cain of Journey, Jason Crabb, Gold City, Booth Brothers, Ricky Skaggs and others.

Kansas church to hold Ladies' Retreat

KANSAS -- The Kansas Christian Church plans to hold its annual Ladies' Retreat from March 9-10.

On March 9, the Ladies' Retreat will begin with a dinner at 5 p.m. followed by a program at 6 p.m. On March 10, the retreat will begin with a breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a program beginning at 9 a.m. Any and all women are welcome to join Kansas Christian Church at this event.

"We have all enjoyed this event in past years and it is always made more special when women from other churches join us," Camille Baker of Kansas Christian Church said in a press release.
