"And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance; but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire." -- Matthew 3:10,11

Well, maybe we will have winter. As for me, I don't care if it doesn't get below 20 degrees. And the snow stays off the roads and drives. Dream on! Today was really nice even if it was windy. It wasn't nearly as cold and blustery as Tuesday.

Ah, yesterday! What a day! Actually, I believe it started the day before, Monday. Hubby hadn't proofread my column before it was sent off. So he read it Monday after it came out in the paper.

He pointed out my really dumb mistake! Ah me! What an air-head! I said uncle Joe and Jean Yoder stopped in for a visit. He is our brother-in-law! It knocked the wind out of my sails. If you read this, Joe, I am all kinds of sorry. I am even if you don't!

Anyway, I believe yesterday, Tuesday, was still affected by it or than I just am air-headed. For sure, I am not good at multi-tasking. Why do I keep trying?

Anyway, lofty goals and all -- I was going to defrost both refrigerators before picking up hubby at work. As soon as we get home, I was going to start doing laundry. Not only am I an air-head, I'm puny. Not in size, unfortunately, but in conditions, for me, it was way too windy and cold to hang my stuff out. That meant putting up my inside lines.

So I started with the refrigerators. The one had ox tail in the locker. Hubby gets these weird notions sometimes and he remarked that he gets hungry for ox tail soup. So his sis gives him some ox tail. I decided it's high time to get this out of the locker.

I put that on the stove to cook and get busy with the fridge.

I went out to check messages, had one from daughter Jane. I proceeded to leave her a lengthy one back and my phone died. Shut off! Just like that! Well! What now? I felt sure it was the phone. I didn't want to go get a new phone after I pick up hubby. I wanted to hurry home and do laundry.

So I shut off everything and leave so I can get the phone before picking up Erwin.

We get home, I start the laundry, put up the lines, get the ox tail cooking again, chop veggies to add to the soup, I didn't think it smelled the greatest and figured it would make the clothes smell. Oh well! I mess with the fridge, fiddle with the new phone, programming in numbers, do laundry, my shoelace breaks. Oh no! I don't have any laces like that. But wait! I might have one that works. It was shorter and thicker. And no, I couldn't get it through the loops. I kick off my other shoe and just wear my flops. My feet whine about that.

I finally get the fridges done, the laundry is all on the lines, soup is almost ready for a late lunch. But first I call the phone repair guys. It was not the phone! The new one was as dead as the old one! The guys can't come until Friday. Grrr! Oh well --

Finally both fridges are done, the kitchen is cleaned up, I sit down and try my shoelace again. This time it worked. Ahh! My world was right side up again.

The sun came out, the wind still blew cold and strong, but the house was cleaned up, the floors swept, the laundry was dry and didn't even stink. Oh yes, late lunch and the soup was surprisingly good, but I just don't want more ox tail anytime soon!

This past Saturday, I decided we need to go to Beachy's Bulk Foods when I get home from work. I also wanted to go to Kuntry Treasures. They close at three on Saturday. So that meant when I got home, hurry and slap the harness on the horse and go. I hadn't had lunch so I grabbed an apple to munch on the way in between yelling at the horse to get a move on!

I seriously knew it wasn't smart, but the weather was so nice and I didn't want to mess up a day this week by making that trip.

We made it in good time, but I dreaded Beachy's. They are always so full on Saturday. And there were a lot of people but they weren't full. They have moved! And A. Store. Big, bright, roomy, it blew my mind! I couldn't remember what I wanted to look for. Check it out! It's worth it!

In closing: You can't have a good day with a bad attitude and you can't have a bad day with a good attitude.
